Flow rateFlow rate: The rate of flow of oxygen delivered to the delivery device.
For example: 4 L/min.
Choice of:
  •  Quantity
    Property: Flow rate, volume
    Units: >=0.0 l/min
    Limit decimal places: 1
  •  Interval of Quantity

Delivery deviceDelivery device: Type of oxygen delivery device.
For example: 'nasal prongs'; or 'V40, Venturi mask 40%'.
Choice of:
  •  Coded Text
    • Standard nasal cannulae
    • High-flow nasal cannulae
    • Simple face mask
    • Non-rebreather reservoir mask
    • Venturi mask
    • Transtracheal catheter
  •  Text
PatternPattern: The intended approach for administration.
  • Continuous [Oxygen is delivered at a constant flow rate throughout the 24 hour period.]
  • Intermittent [At various times of the day or during activities specified using the 'Timing' CLUSTER.]
  • As required [Also known as 'PRN (pro re nata)' or 'PN (per necessare)'.]
DescriptionDescription: Narrative description about the supplemental oxygen order.
This data element should be used to describe the named service in more detail, including how it should be delivered, patient concerns and issues that might be encountered in delivering the order.
Clinical indicationClinical indication: The clinical reason for supplemental use of oxygen.
For example: 'Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease'; or 'Obstructive sleep apnea'. Coding of the clinical indication with a terminology is preferred, where possible. This data element allows multiple occurrences to enable recording of multiple conditions.
Therapeutic intentTherapeutic intent: The therapeutic goal for use of supplemental oxygen.
For example: 'symptom relief'; or 'increase exercise tolerance'.
UrgencyUrgency: Urgency of the request for oxygen.
Specific definitions of emergency and urgent will vary between clinical contexts, clinical systems and the clinical scenario. If explicit timing is required then the Order start and expiry times should be clearly stated.
  • Emergency [The order requires immediate attention.]
  • Urgent [The order requires prioritised attention.]
  • Routine [The order does not require immediate or prioritised attention.]
Duration per administrationDuration per administration: Duration of each administration of supplemental oxygen.
Redundant if 'Continuous' is selected in the 'Mode' data element.
Choice of:
  •  Quantity
    Property: Time
    Units: 0.0..<24.0 h
    Limit decimal places: 1
  •  Interval of Quantity
    Lower: Property: Time
    Units: 0.0..<24.0 h
    Limit decimal places: 1

    Upper: Property: Time
    Units: 0.0..<24.0 h
    Limit decimal places: 1
Delivery device detailsDelivery device details: Structured details about the delivery device.
Include:
All not explicitly excluded archetypes
Duration per dayDuration per day: Total administration of supplemental oxygen over a 24 hour period.
Redundant if 'Continuous' is selected in the 'Mode' data element. For example: 'at least 15 hours per day'.
Choice of:
  •  Quantity
    Units: 0.0..<24.0 h/d
    Limit decimal places: 1
  •  Interval of Quantity
    Lower: Units: 0.0..<24.0 h/d
    Limit decimal places: 1

    Upper: Units: 0.0..<24.0 h/d
    Limit decimal places: 1
TimingTiming: Structured desciption of the timing of intermittent administration within a 24 hour period.
Redundant if 'Continuous' is selected in the 'Mode' data element.
Include:
openEHR-EHR-CLUSTER.timing_daily.v1
ActivityActivity: Specific activity that requires supplemental oxygen.
Redundant if 'Continuous' is selected in the 'Mode' data element.
  • At rest/awake [Delivered while at rest and awake.]
  • Nocturnal/asleep [Delivered at night or while sleeping.]
  • During exertion [Delivered during exercise or activities of daily living.]
Used with PAPUsed with PAP: Flag if the order requires PAP.
Equipment typeEquipment type:
  • Portable [The individual will require equipment that allows them to be ambulatory or mobile.]
  • Stationary [The individual will not require equipment that allows them to be ambulatory or mobile.]
Order startOrder start: The date/time when supplemental oxygen order commences.
Only required if the start date/time is different to the date/time when this order is recorded.
Order endOrder end: The date/time when supplemental oxygen order ceases.
IndefiniteIndefinite: The order is open ended and has no end date.
CommentComment: Additional narrative about the supplemental oxygen order not captured in other fields.
protocol
