ARCHETYPE Specimen measurements (openEHR-EHR-CLUSTER.specimen_measurements.v1)

ARCHETYPE IDopenEHR-EHR-CLUSTER.specimen_measurements.v1
ConceptSpecimen measurements
DescriptionThe measurements of a specimen.
UseUse to record the measurements that represent the physical dimensions of a specimen. This cluster can be nested in the 'Physical properties' slot of the archetype CLUSTER.specimen. For example: - an 8.0 x 10.2 x 6.5 mm tumour specimen from the intestine; - a skin biopsy 4 mm diameter and 4 mm thick; - 7 ml of blood in a vacuum tube. The size of a specimen may be recorded in two or more linear measurements (dimensions), e.g., length, width and depth (height). If it is not possible to determine the orientation of the specimen, each dimension can be recorded by repeating the 'Length' or 'Diameter' data element.
MisuseNot to be used to record measurements for body segments. Use the body segment family of archetypes for this purpose. Not to be used to record measurements in physical examinations. Use measurement-related data elements within the CLUSTER.exam family of archetypes for this purpose. For example: the measured size of a pupil in CLUSTER.exam-pupil and length and width of a perforation in CLUSTER.exam-tympanic_membrane. Not to be used to record measurements in imaging examinations. Use measurement-related data elements within the context of CLUSTER archetypes for each modality- and/or organ-specific imaging finding.
PurposeTo record the measurements that represent the physical dimensions of a specimen.
