| Concept | APACHE-II_UKSH |

| Report ID | Report ID: Identification information about the report. |
| Status | Status: The status of the entire report. Note: This is not the status of any of the report components. |

| Case identifier | Case identifier: The identifier of this case. |
| APACHE II | APACHE II: The APACHE II classification system is a severity of disease classification system based on APACHE (Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation). It combines an Acute Physiology Score (APS) based on 12 physiologic variables with scoring points assigned to age and chronic health problems. A weighted score from 0 to 4 is assigned to each physiologic variable depending on how strongly it differs from a normal value. The APACHE II score ranges from 0 to 71. |

| Any event | Any event: @ internal @ |
| Data | |
| Temperature | Temperature: Rectal temperature in °C.
|
| Mean arterial pressure | Mean arterial pressure: Mean arterial pressure in mmHg.
|
| Heart rate | Heart rate: Heart rate (ventricular response) in beats/min.
|
| Respiratory rate | Respiratory rate: Respiratory rate non-ventlated or ventilated in breaths/min.

| Oxygenation | Oxygenation: Oxygenation in mmHg:
if FIO_2 >= 0.5: record AaDO_2;
if FIO_2 < 0.5: record PaO_2.

| Serum potassium | Serum potassium: Serum potassium in mmol/l.
|
| Serum creatinine | Serum creatinine: Serum creatinine in mg/100 ml.
Double point score for acute renal failure: In this case a factor of two is registered in the element 'Acute renal failure'. Otherwise, this factor is set to one.
|
| Acute renal failure | Acute renal failure: Double point score for 'Serum creatinine' in case of acute renal failure. If acute renal failure has been diagnosed, the factor is 2. Otherwise, the factor is set to 1.
|
| Hematocrit | Hematocrit: Hematocrit in %.
|
| White blood count | White blood count: White blood count in 10^9 /l.
|
| GCS points | GCS points: The point score added for the GCS is calculated by subtracting the actual GCS from 15:
Points = 15 - actual GCS. 0..12 |
| Age | Age: Age points are assigned to age in years.
|
| Chronic health | Chronic health: If the patient has a history of severe organ system insufficiency or is immuno-compromised assign points. Organ Insufficiency or immuno-compromised state must have been evident prior to hospital admission and conform to the following criteria: - Liver: Biopsy proven cirrhosis and documented portal hypertension; episodes of past upper GI bleeding attributed to portal hypertension; or prior episodes of hepatic failure / encephalopathy / coma. - Cardiovascular: New York Heart Association Class IV - Respiratory: Chronic restrictive, obstructive, or vascular disease resulting in severe exercise restriction, or documented chronic hypoxia, hypercapnia, secondary polycythemia, severe pulmonary hypertension (>40 mmHg), or respirator dependency. - Renal: Receiving chronic dialysis. - Immuno-compromised: The patient has received therapy that suppresses resistance to infection, e.g. immuno-suppression, chemotherapy, radiation, long term or recent high dose steroids, or has a disease that is sufficiently advanced to suppress resistance to infection, e.g. leukemia, lymphoma, AIDS.

| APACHE II score | APACHE II score: Sum of the Acute Physiology Score (given by the sum of the 12 physiologic variable points), age points and chronic health points. Maximum of 71 points. 0..71 |
